Spice Telecom Bags Long Distance Telephone Licence

B K Modi promoted Spice Telecom today said it has bagged the licence to offer national and international long distance telephone services in India.

The company at present offers cellular services in Punjab and Karnataka. Malaysia Telekom has a 49 per cent stake in Spice Telecom.

Ever since the Government relaxed the entry norms for long distance telephone licence, a number of new operators have entered the fray including Sify, Tulip IT, Essar, and multinational giants such as BT and AT&T. Others such as Verizon and Cable &Wireless are also in the fray as reported on Sify.
