Reliance Power Limited IPO which would be one of the biggest IPO in Indian stock markets which will issue 130 crore equity shares of Rs 2 each at a price to be decided later.
The net issue to the public would be 114 crore equity shares after the promotors contribution of 16 crore equity shares.Reliance Power IPO will constitute 11.5% of the post issue paid-up capital of the company and the net issue will constitute 10.1% of the post issue paid-up capital of the company.

Major Points of the Reliance Power IPO
Reliance Energy which holds major stake in Reliance Power will offload 11.5% stake from Reliance Power Limited. With regard to the listing the company has got principal approval from the Reliance Energy Shareholders.
Face Value Change : In an recent news, the SEBI has not agreed to the DRHP presented by the Reliance Power for its IPO and so the company has to alter some points to meet the SEBI instructions. As per the market news, SEBI has not agreed on the IPO offer price at Rs. 2 and the company is now considering to change the face value of the shares offered to Rs. 10, for this the Reliance Power IPO issue date may be delayed for at least a month according to the sources.
Reliance Power IPO Date : Subscription of the issue is expected to start around the 2nd week of January 2008.Subscription of the Reliance Power IPO will be high as the Retail and the Institutional investors are showing tremendous confidence in this issue, even before the subscription of the Reliance Power IPO started, Grey market premium is quoting around Rs. 60.

Why is there so much buzz around these power generation and transmission companies like NTPC , REL, Power Grid and now Reliance Power IPO
Chena, the buzz in these power companies is mainly because of the governments initiative to generate more power according to the 2010 Plan. Lot of reliefs offered to these Power generation companies. Reliance Power IPO could be the best among the lot in the coming years as they have lot of investment plans and the projects are growing every year.
Personally i would add power sector stocks into my portfolio with a long term perspective of 2-3 years. If you dont get the shares alloted in the Reliance Power IPO, accumulate them on the listing with long term horizon.

Whatever the observations/allegations coming out is really true.
Hence the IPO will be delayed , it is my guess, to clear the air.
You can also tell me the simple logic, all the projects are received in the name of REL and now REL is having only 50% in RPL is undigestable.
So RPL should be wholly owned subsidiary of REL.

Reliance power IPO is postponened to first week of December to Second Week Of December. IT will be subscribed Heavily but allotment will be good like in Retail DLF. As it is the Second largest This year SBI also has plans to raise 15000 cr in Third Week of December a 25% lower the value of SBI in Market.SBI allotment in Retail will be ecellent. Now I have to choose which IPO to Apply. Both will give 100% returns by March 08

Nafisa - If you have a demat or trading account you can apply in Reliance Power IPO, if you dont have open with ICICI Direct or HDFC. I think they would help you open there in US also.
For rest of the others where the common question is like when Relaince power IPO subscription starts . According to market news, Power ipo is expected around 10th December or if any delays mostly in the second week of December. Investors should be able to get good allotment in Reliance Power IPO as the retail investors category is very big and the numbers are around 45 crore shares.
Investors should get decent allotment of Reliance Power IPO , while applying if you dont want to take chances apply for the maximum amount in retail category which is 1 lakh rupees.

I think everyone of you are too much excited about the Reliance Power IPO. I just wanted to warn all of you about the fact that IPO’s can fail to make money for you! History tells you that applying to IPO where you dont understand the business and proper technical evaluation of that particular company will lead to a financially sound decision. I appeal to all of you to remove the tag of reliance from that company and think of it as a normal company and judge it only by the assets it has. And then if you find the company has enough potential to create business for itself and money for its shareholders then only invest in it. Indian Market is highly immature, so invest wisely!
